20 Years of Great Fishing at Langara

Twenty years ago Langara Fishing Lodge first brought sport fishing to the unexplored waters of Langara Island in BC's remote and majestic Queen Charlotte Islands.

Many members of the FESF Derby have been with us since day one, and have been terrific ambassadors to Langara Fishing Adventures over the years.

A lot of things have changed since we first introduced the world to the beauty and bounty of this incredible location: the lodge is a little bigger, the food is a little better, and the boats are a little faster (especially for those of you who remember fishing out of our old 12 foot boats with little 9 horsepower engines!); we've lost a few old friends, but have gained a lot of new ones as well.

But what hasn't changed is our dedication to providing the highest quality fishing experience possible, and our gratitude to our loyal guests who have returned to us year after year, spread the word, and helped make Langara what it is today—the destination of choice for world-class salmon fishing.

On your marks to receive an FESF Scholarship

Students applying to the Fernandez Earle Scholarship Fund (FESF) for an all-expenses-paid undergraduate degree scholarship at either Hawaii Pacific University or the University of Hawaii have to provide extensive written and oral evidence of their aptitude for further education.

The four-year degree course adds up to around $125,000 per student in fees—it includes flights, tuition and accommodation.

In order to be in the running for an FESF scholarship, pupils must obtain a 3.8 grade average on their course work at school, and to reach the final stages of the selection process candidates must submit a variety of written material, including a letter expressing why they think they should win an FESF award.

On top of excelling academically, contenders must display strong neighbourhood involvement through volunteer work and other contributions to their communities. Applicants must also present their ambitions and goals and explain how obtaining a degree will help them to give back to their communities.

The FESF board of directors also takes into consideration whether or not the scholarship beneficiary will be a good representative of the foundation while studying in Hawaii.
